Meet our Team
We are a uniquely chosen group comprised of physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, psychologists, nurses and personnel equipped and skilled to provide the latest and safest techniques and methodologies in “Weight Loss.”
Anesthesia is important to weight loss surgery patients. We have a select group of anesthesiologists who have a special interest in this type of surgery. Many of our anesthesiologists are also cardiac anesthesiologists. There are different levels of skills for anesthesiologists—we handpick our anesthesiologists.
We have a number of psychologists who assist our patients. Dr. Olin will see patients in our office. Dr. Olin, can evaluate you on Wednesdays, and is available for any other issues.
Dr. Simpson’s nurse is Amy Jo- she is a Lap-Band patient - and will check you in. Amy Jo has lost over 80 pounds with the Lap-Band.
Greg is our bariatric coordinator. Having worked in an operating room for years, he got to see the early patients of Dr. Simpson until he decided he wanted to be a patient. He had sleep apnea, diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure-- all of which are now gone!
Jennifer is our benefits coordinator. Jennifer also has a band- and will be in the background checking benefits and checking up on you.
Our nutritionist is Nancy. Nancy has been working with Dr. Simpson for years. Nancy sees all patients pre-op, and after surgery and is present at the support group meetings. In addition, we have two classes she teaches, that all of our patients are welcome to come to
Another important part of our team is Surgical Specialty Hospital—a hospital owned by physicians, and dedicated to patients. The nursing care here is outstanding—and patients hate to leave. In fact, check out Phoenix Magazine and see Surgical Specialty Hospital. Why this hospital? Because it has the most modern laparoscopic equipment in the Valley -- better vision, safer surgery. Our team at Surgical Specialty Hospital has seen more LAP-BAND patients than any in the valley (statistics from Allergan Health, the maker of The LAP-BAND).
Our outpatient surgery center is another important part of our team. Many patients do not need a hospital, and prefer the small and quiet nature of our outpatient surgery center. Canyon Surgery Center and Surgi-Care are our preferred outpatient surgery centers. One is located close to our office, and the other at Central Ave and Camelback Ave.
We are fortunate to have three great places for our patients -- a great hospital - -At Surgical Specialty Hospital, and a great outpatient surgery center. Where you go will depend upon several factors to be discussed with your physician and health team. There are other places where we perform the band, but these are our preferred providers of your health care.
