Where you have your surgery performed is almost as important as who does the surgery.  The hospital we chose is The Surgical Hospital of Phoenix.  A hospital that is dedicated to surgical care, with nurses that have the most experience with weight loss surgery in the valley. Surgical Specialty Hospital is a physician owned hospital, originally purchased by a group of neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons who were tired of hospitals that put profit before patients. They became very interested in weight loss surgery as many of their patients' problems with spine, knees, and hips were made worse from obesity. So we began performing lap-band surgery there in 2005. This is the hospital we chose when doing our plication study, as well as continuing the operations with the sleeve. As a result, this hospital has more experience with the band than any center in Arizona.   

Our patients who stay love Surgical Specialty Hospital. Nurses answer call lights, know the operation, and are dedicated to the band. We have the lowest infection rate of any hospital in Arizona and the highest patient satisfaction of any hospital in Arizona.

Outpatient Surgery Centers: 

While bands can be done at outpatient surgery centers, we do prefer that our sleeve gastrectomy and gastric plications (stomach plications) be done in the hospital. Most patients go home the following day.
