Gastric Plication with the band
Dr. Simpson was one of five international experts to attend the WorldWide conference devoted to the imbrication/LapBand procedure, and the only surgeon from the state of Arizona. Dr. Simpson has done a number of plications as well as plications with Lap-Bands at the center in Baja (where more have been done than anywhere in North America).
The American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery has designated this as an experimental procedure and should be done in the United States under an investigational status. Dr. Simpson fully supports this, as too many surgeons are offering this procedure without fully informing their patients of its investigational nature.
